Martial arts comedy movie series “King Fury” director David Sandberg has launched a new non-fungible token series called “Unicorn Masters” inspired by monstrous action figures from movies in the 1980s and 90s.

- The Halloween edition of Unicorn Masters contain 15 3D-rendered animated characters described as disturbed, disembodied and desiccated. The NFT characters look glossy, thus creating the illusion of being a walking toy.
- The NFTs — inspired by movies Sandberg grew up watching — were part of the first NFT drop by Decrypt Studios, an NFT and Web 3.0 production company and a division of crypto media site Decrypt. People can bid on the NFTs from their Chrome browser with the MetaMask extension, and the auction is scheduled to end today at 12 p.m. EST.
- Sandberg plans to use the NFT characters in his future film projects and maybe even use NFTs to fund his future films. However, he is not promising anything and is still in the experiment phase, he told Decrypt.
- In March, Decrypt launched its own cryptocurrency, the Decrypt Token (DCPT), to incentivize readers to interact with its content. The project was highlighted in a recent International News Media Association report authored by Forkast.News on “Exploring Blockchain’s Potential to Transform Media.”
