HashKey Group, a Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency service provider, has launched HashKey Global to serve international investors.
The platform, based in Bermuda, offers a range of services including spot and futures and spot trading, Ben El-Baz, the managing director of the newly launched exchange, said in an interview with Bloomberg.
HashKey Global aims to overtake the U.S.-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase in trading volume by 2029, according to Livio Weng, HashKey’s chief operating officer, as reported by the South China Morning Post.
Coinbase, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the U.S. and one of the biggest globally, recorded a 24-hour trading volume of nearly US$3 billion on Monday, ranking it third highest for the day, according to CoinGecko data.
In a separate interview with a local news outlet, Weng expressed confidence in the platform’s appeal to Chinese expatriates and the Southeast Asian market.
HashKey is one of the two licensed exchanges in Hong Kong, according to the Securities and Futures Commission.
