Global securities index MSCI plans to launch a cryptocurrency index, CEO Henry Fernandez announced at a Clubhouse event earlier this week, according to a report by Reuters. Fernandez did not provide a timeline for a launch, however.

- MSCI, an acronym referring to Morgan Stanley Capital International, was founded in 1969 and is a leading provider of financial services to the investment community. Since its founding, it has published the MSCI Developed Markets Index, among other indices.
- In May, S&P Dow Jones launched the S&P Bitcoin Index, the S&P Ethereum Index and the S&P Crypto Mega Cap Index. The first crypto index, the Bitwise 10 Crypto Index Fund, was created in 2017.
