Facebook’s Novi, a digital wallet designed for its digital currency, Diem, is in hiring mode in the Philippines.

- Facebook’s careers page currently shows five openings in the country for positions dedicated to Novi, including help operations investigator, onboarding coordinator and learning business partner. It has only one other opening in the entire Asia-Pacific region.
- Launched in 2019, the social media giant’s digital wallet allows transactions using blockchain-powered digital currency Diem, formerly known as Libra. It is claimed to help people access affordable financial services, with no hidden charges to add, send, receive or withdraw money.
- Novi may capitalize easily on Facebook’s customer base in the Philippines. The company controls 93% of the country’s social media market share and almost 97% of Filipinos used Facebook in the third quarter last year.
- Meanwhile, the number of unbanked Filipino adults stood at 51.2 million in 2019. That’s 71% of the total adult population, according to the nation’s central bank.
