Qingdao-headquartered tech company SOS Ltd. has announced the launch of more than 6,000 ETH and BCT mining rigs, claiming 90% renewable energy sources.

- SOS Ltd., a Qingdao-based company specializing in data and technology products, announced yesterday that 6,039 ETH and BTC mining rigs it had received in the past month are now active at the company’s cryptocurrency mining center in Sichuan Province.
- The company reports the that its 575 Ethereum mining rigs should generate 400 GH/s (giga hash per second) of mining power, and its 5,464 Bitcoin mining rigs 177 PH/s (peta hash per second). SOS further said it powers more than 90% of its mining operations with renewable energy sources. The mining center is located at the Leibodong Hydropower Station in Sichuan.
- Although China’s relationship with cryptocurrency has been uneasy, and environmental concerns are high on the crypto mining news agenda, SOS Chief Executive Yandai Wang said: “With the completion of Phase I of the Leibodong mine and continued expansion of our mining fleet, we are pleased with the progress on our digital currency business plan, based on blockchain technology.”
