Music magazine Rolling Stone Australia is releasing a cover as a non-fungible token to coincide with the release of the debut album by pop star Tones and I, according to a company blog post. The album is out today.
Fast facts
- The cover on offer, which features the singer-songwriter, is Rolling Stone Australia’s debut cover from March 2020, following the brand’s relaunch by Brag Media Group.
- Tones and I gained international recognition in 2019 with the release of her second single, “Dance Monkey” from her debut EP, “The Kids Are Coming”. The singer had the second-highest number of streams on Spotify in 2020, and the most by a female artist. “Dance Monkey” has been streamed more than 2 billion times on the platform.
- Beginning on July 19 at 12 pm Australian east coast time (GMT+10) fans and investors will have a chance to purchase one of 350 NFTs each priced at AU$130 (US$90.60). For a little more, fans can purchase bundles including a physical copy of the Rolling Stone Australia issue signed and numbered by Tones And I, and an exclusive cassette of her debut album, “Welcome to the Madhouse”.
- Speaking with Forkast.News, CEO of the Brag Media Luke Girgis said “Tones and I was the first artist we ever put on the Rolling Stone Australia cover, so it’s only fitting that she’s the first artist we do an NFT with. The timing of it is also pretty brilliant in that this week she’s actually released her debut album so every NFT bundle you buy will count towards her album sales charts too, which is really cool for her.”
