Bitcoin continued trading above US$19,000 in Tuesday afternoon trading in Asia, rising above US$20,000 before declining. Ether and most of the other top 10 coins by market capitalization gained.

- Bitcoin rose 3.85% in the past 24 hours to change hands at US$19,942 at 4 p.m. in Hong Kong, and Ether went up 4.39% to US$1,348, according to data from CoinMarketCap.
- XRP strengthened 4.66%, making it the biggest gainer among the top 10 tokens.
- Asia equity markets rose, following Wall Street’s rally overnight. The Nikkei 225 index closed 2.96% higher, and South Korea’s Kospi gained 2.5%. Australia ASX’s All Ordinaries index gained 3.74%. Markets in mainland China and Hong Kong were closed for a public holiday.
- The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) on Tuesday raised its key interest rate by 25 basis points, as it is “committed to returning inflation to the 2% to 3% range over time,” said Philip Lowe, governor of RBA, in a statement.
- U.S. manufacturing activity declined in September to the slowest monthly growth since May 2020, data released on Monday showed. The Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index remained in the expansion territory and came in at 50.9 for the month, down from 52.8 in August.
