Klaytn, a public blockchain platform under South Korean internet giant Kakao, announced on Monday five partnerships to drive plans to become a global blockchain benchmark for the increasingly competitive gaming and metaverse space in 2022.

- Klaytn is partnering with Japanese tech giant GMO Group, Indonesia’s Innovation Factory, NFT marketplace East NFT, U.S.-based entertainment group Animal Concerts and fintech accelerator F10.
- “We have built tremendous momentum over the past 3 months and are well positioned to ride the metaverse wave in 2022,” the Klaytn Foundation’s Head of Global Adoption David Shin said in a statement.
- Investors are expecting growth in gaming and the metaverse, headlined by Facebook’s rebranding to Meta, to take center stage this year, leveraging the broader adoption of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in 2021.
- Klaytn, a blockchain released in 2019, is also the official partner for the Bank of Korea’s central bank digital currency (CBDC) simulation project.
