An unidentified hacker stole over US$1 million in Binance Coin (BNB) tokens from decentralized multi-chain wallet BitKeep’s token swap service on Monday, according to a Tuesday statement by the company.

- “Our development team managed to contain the emergency and stopped the hacker,” said BitKeep, adding that it was in contact with relevant security agencies and would compensate all funds lost by users.
- The Singapore-based company is the latest victim of what has become the worst month ever for cryptocurrency theft, with decentralized exchanges proving the most vulnerable. The Binance Coin network was also hacked for US$100 million.
- BitKeep confirmed that its token swap service was frozen after the attack and added “a wallet safety assurance feature,” for users to check their wallets’ current security risks.
- The company published a reimbursement plan after the hack, promising 100% compensation to victims through a “compensation portal” set to launch within the next few days.
- The BitKeep wallet reportedly supports tokens from more than 30 blockchain networks, such as Ethereum, Polygon, Solana and BNB Chain, with over 6 million users.
