Ever wanted to own a piece of game-worn NBA merchandise, but without that well-worn fragrance? Now you can. Brooklyn Nets star Spencer Dinwiddie is selling a pair of shoes he has worn in-game as a non-fungible token, Forkast.News has learned.

- The shoes on auction are from Dinwiddie’s K8IROS clothing range, and all proceeds will be going to the Dinwiddie Family Foundation, an organization that aims to help disadvantaged young people through education and fitness programs.
- Partnering with blockchain company SUKU, the auction will take place on its INFINITE marketplace in tandem with a raffle for another NFT of signed production sneakers from K8IROS. Participants in that raffle will be entered into a further draw to win a physical pair of signed K8IROS sneakers.
- Dinwiddie is at the forefront of the convergence of crypto and sport, recently tokenizing his National Basketball Association contract on the Ethereum network. The sale was made using Dinwiddies’s own Dream Fan Shares system, a platform the player said would “create terms that work better for us, while also giving supporters the chance to invest in our futures and share in our successes.”
- The NBA initially threatened to cancel Dinwiddie’s contract if he went ahead with the tokenization, but he did anyway. The sale earned US$1.3 million — well short of the US$13.5 million it was expected to bring in.
